For the love of Shawn Mendes’s hometown ~
Before 2019 comes to an end, I decided to visit Lizzy and Faith in Toronto. Other than making this blog post about what to specifically do in Toronto, I wanted to make this last trip before 2019 a post about how I was able to relieve stress in Toronto. I also did not attend to my usual routine of creating detailed itineraries or print a long list of must- go landmarks, this trip just made me rely on what my friends wanted to offer me instead.
Though, having read various articles and watched a few travel vlogs, I understand why there is a good influx of tourist coming into the metropolis city. There is a great amount of things to explore, whether that be art, sports, and sightseeing in the city or at the island areas, it is enough to keep you packed the whole week. Despite how huge Toronto can be, it is made up of smaller neighbourhoods that have its own distinct character, you just have to know what you would be looking for.
I am honestly not the biggest fan of winter but this completely changed after this trip. I arrived in Toronto where the cold was not very forgiving dropping to around -10 to -15, but luckily my friends kept me cozy by giving me tons of ways where I could still enjoy my trip. This part of Canada definitely inhaled the more calmer scene, as possibly associated with their laid-back personality, Toronto allowed me to unwind and take it easy ~
It was amusing to be able to travel to Toronto during this time in December; the Christmas spirit was alive with the festive markets found in the Distillery District and at Nathan Philips Square. Stress was released and curiosity was inhaled inside the Art Gallery of Ontario. As bullshit as it sounds, with numerous interesting sculptures, antiques and paintings, the artistic ambiance allowed my mind to feel more at ease and free. It was also probably the dim lighting but it allowed me to appreciate this experience a lot more.
One of the places that I also got to enjoy was walking around Kensington Market, it made me feel like I was in my own skin after seeing all the bohemian and grunge collections that they had to offer. Other than the fact that there is no doubt I was very into these kinds of stuff, i get the hype. Whether that was thrift stores, independent boutiques, tattoo parlours and food, they had it all for you.
Overall, this trip freed my mind away from all the heat and tension that was happening in school, it made me miss having a peaceful and balanced mind that I needed to have every once in awhile; I’m glad that Toronto was able to keep me in a happier state in a land of maple trees and professional ice skaters. The same way that my friends were able to show me spots where they hang with their friends or like to take their mind off things. Since I’ve had a few sad boy hours the past few weeks, Toronto made me refocus again, it made me appreciate the little things in life and enjoy being in my own pace like this isolated coffee shop Lizzy found.
Thank you both to Lizzy and Faith for taking their time to see me and tour me around their areas. I am blessed enough to be able to travel and be in touch with these two amazing people in my life and i hope there will be more for the following years to come`
