Last May 2019, I spent around two and a half months in Singapore for an internship. During this time I was able to take my day offs exploring the city's lush greeneries, famous landmarks and eating some seriously delicious food.

For the most part of this trip, roaming around Singapore and interacting with locals were unsurprisingly eye opening. It took me awhile before I can feel inspired to write about my experience, since I wanted to write this blog post where I began missing Singapore. To the point where I remember the new friends I made, the intense heat that I felt whenever I stepped outdoors or whenever I started craving for Laksa that I could have easily gotten near my apartment.

I am blessed enough to spend time away from home and explore the city that is adored by many. For those who are planning to visit Singapore anytime soon, here are what my reminiscent thoughts wishes for you to look out for.

Food

When it comes to food, Singaporeans really do not joke around; its really fucking good; I highly advise just simply eating at the Hawker Centres, especially to those who are on a budget. Some of the best Hawker Centres I went to were in Maxwell Centre, Old Airport Road Food Centre, Tiong Bahru Food Centre, Lau Pa Sat, Satay By The Bay, Makansutra Gluttons Bay and way more. There is an overwhelming amount of flavourful and comforting dishes that are to die for, showing a variety of ethnic combinations of Chinese, Malay and Indian flavours poured into their food; whether that be Chicken Rice, Curry, Char Kway Teow, Satay Sticks, Kebabs, Chilly Crab, and Laksa; it is truly essential to spend your days having a food trip in Singapore, despite the overwhelming amount of stalls that are present, don't shy away from trying something new, I guarantee you it never disappoints. At the end of the day, the goal is to eat as much as possible.

Although, if you spend your days in Singapore's Shopping Malls, food is also pretty tasty, though it would just be little more pricey stop by the Marina Bay Sands, Suntec City, Vivo City, Plaza Singapura and Ion Orchard where you can find some decent restaurants too.

Landmarks and Aesthetic

Living off my sightseeing trips through influencers post and spots taken off Crazy Rich Asians,Singapore is not cheap, it truly lives off the name of being one of the wealthiest cities; the metropolitan city peaks high-rise crystal buildings and sophisticated shopping malls. Apart from that, Singapore makes sure that you are paying your money's worth. There is an abundance of culture through their temples and architecture, art through their murals and museums and an overwhelming amount innovative space for greenery seen in their gardens and parks. There is a wide options of free things to do and explore and Singapore, it's actually quite surprising how the city is actually tiny enough to just walk around.

Hipster Vibes

After passing by the Masjid Sultan, head over to Haji LaneAfter taking a picture at to see everyone's beloved young and lively neighbourhood that clearly has everything you want and everything you did not think you even wanted. Ranging from coffee shops, dessert stores, independent boutiques and pubs with live music, it is such a beautiful area that lies upon the creative and quirky murals.

Once you walk past the colourful MICA Building, you have entered Singapore's main nightlife, Clarke Quay. It has one of the coolest and trendiest bars and nightclubs that I have ever been too, Favourites of mine include Holey Moley and Level Up to see clubs that are integrated with games, whether that be golf or 80's arcade. Clubbing, Partying, or even chilling around Clarke Quay gives off a very humble ambiance of people who don't stray away from their Singapore Slings and are open to conversations. Excitement runs deep at night, you won't be able to get enough!

Alkaff Bridge

When you think you have a little too much to drink, you can sober up by walking along Alkaff Bridge. with its polka dots and vibrant colours, it is not that hard to miss. It instantly catches your eye whether your drunk or not, it is inevitable not to take a photo here

Design Orchard

Peranakan Houses

If you are shopping around Orchard, take the time to stroll around a quirky find in Design Orchard, insanely cute architecture of circled mirrors are found it begs for attention on your Instagram feed. Another additional find is the colourful Peranakan Houses in Joo Chiat, this is honestly only if you wish to just spend 10 minutes braving the heat for Instagram, but after that you can always reside to looking around Katong area.

Cultural Landmark

Little India

Singapore prides diversity, which are seen in their food, people and culture. For culture to hit differently, take a trip down areas in either Little India and Chinatown, which is home to some of temples, affordable eats (like the Main Hawker Centres) , and souvenirs . For proof that you went to these areas, take a pic In Little India where you can find the House of Tan Teng Niah and the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown.

Feeling Touristy

Gardens By The Bay

For those into nature and wish to discover the different plants and flowers in the most futuristic way possible, Gardens by the Bay is worth the visit. I truly enjoyed the iconic Supertrees and walking along the OCBC Skyways, it definitely is a unique experience.

ArtScience Museum

The Art Science Museum is also a nice stop-by, you have the choice to visit either one to two ) or all exhibits, afterwards fulfil your afternoon taking a nice stroll to the Helix Bridge, which also lead you to the Merlion Park, walking around this area give you the chance to see the whole night show in Marina Bay.

Once you complete your trip, spend your last few moments adoring the Jewel Changi Airport, it is simply, breathtaking and worth your time. The place is very refreshing and calm, it makes you calmer before you get onto your flight. If it appears exquisite in picture it looks even more magical seeing it in person. Before setting off to your flight, arrive two or three hours before your flight to explore the mall and the main attraction.
