Kind of unaware of Clockenflap? it is an annual festival in Hong Kong, where the most wholesome and energetic crowd share a common bond on how to get a party started. Like America’s annual Coachella and Lollapalooza, Hong Kong has its very own Festival that takes places every year on November lasting for three exciting weekends from Friday to Sunday filled with great music performances from around the world, amazing art artefacts and never the less people who share the same experience too. I took the initiative to be the eyes for you as we take a deep look of what it is like being in the largest festival in Hong Kong.

This year’s festival, amazingly had thousands of people who slayed in their festival inspired outfits. Clockenflap also collaborated with a few crafty activities such as FACESS, initial. and Levi’s where people could stay occupied as they wait for the performances. These activities go beyond festival body art, bedazzled face makeup, and even some design on your clothing that can really spice up your look!

Let’s not forget how aesthetically pleasing the venue is assembled this year, the four music stages spread out Central Harbourfront while witnessing some of the quirkiest art space that stand within the midst of the venue, was bigger and better. Each stage has a variety of performers performing within 45 minutes from varied genres include Indie, Rap, EDM, Techno-pop and a lot more that the music lineup has attracted more and more people this year!

The following three days kicked off to a great start and adrenaline- filled crowd and performances, it was hard to choose favourite, but personally, these performances definitely deserve a big round of applause.
Friday: Kid Ink & Higher Brothers

Chinese rap group Higher Brothers, who began to hype up the night as they drop some sick beats and jumping along with the crowd, LA based rapper and singer Kid Ink swooned the crowd and especially the ladies as he threw personalized signed towels into the crowd.
Saturday: Wednesday Campanella & Dean & Stormzy

The highlight performance to me belongs to Jpop electro- pop trio, Wednesday Campanella who took performances to a whole new level, by erupting from an inflatable intergalactic looking egg to ending the performance jumping into the audience in a gigantic ball walker. R&B Soul artist, Dean truly swooned all the ladies in the crowd including myself, leaving with his overall performance oozing with talent and charm that all of us were all about. Lastly, UK Rapper Stormzy made some fellow lads in the crowd reminisce the hometown and break some knees as they scream #MERKY.
Sunday: Temple & Ibibio Sound Machine

On Sunday, my Clockenflap experience was completed with some chill and soothing vibes from psychelidic rockers, Temples and an uplifting jazzy upbeat rhythm to get you movin' from English afro-funk band was Ibibio Sound Machine, Their performance made an impact in the audience as they performed with a complete set of trumpets, drums and synth to embrace the warmth of the sun setting.
The festival was tremendous to keep everyone pumped including myself, We guarantee when you attend Clockenflap, the best part is meeting the purest people who can help live the life of the party, even if you do not known any of the acts, it may surprise you how much music intake you may start adding to your spotify playlist! Clockenflap is definitely those must-do’s for all living in +852, there is always a next year and an undoubtedly exciting music lineup and atmosphere, it is the ultimate escape from all the stress of November, do not miss out for a weekend to remember!
